Outlook 2002

My Outlook 2002 all of a sudden displays a new widow while it sends/receives. I know about the window, I can typically see it if I choose, but for whatever reason, I cannot disable it now, even when I check the box, "Do not show this window during send/receive."

Any suggestions before I start wading through MS help files?

I'm running XP Pro, sp 2 as an OS with IE 7.

Have you just updated your anti-virus software or changed it's settings for scanning your e-mail?

My anti-virus updates at least once a day, and sometimes more often than that. McAfee Internet Suite

I changed a couple of settings in regard to information allowed to go over the net in my privacy blocker.

Would that cause the dialog for send/recieve to pop open on the screen, and then also stay there until I manually close it?

I've checked the box to not show the dialog, but even with it checked it continues to show.

I'm betting the update/changes "jogged" something.
See if this will put it right : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/327907
But first, since I tend to the paranoid, go here and run an on line scan : http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Oh my gosh... That was it. So simple and stupid. Part of why so many people rant against MS, I guess.

Status bar was turned off. It was starting to make me crazy. Just as I'd type something that dialog would open and put a halt to everything. I chased down about 10 other bulletins, but never ran across that one. All the other ones were registry changes, etc. Way to involved and complicated.

Thanls... problem resolved.

I'll run the virus scan later when I have some free time. I like to run an "off-campus" scanner once in a while just to see. I haven't run that one yet. I have found that McAfee is fairly effective when you have their on-line suite with automatic updates. I'm out there on the web all day long and rarely does anything get to me -- not that I don't get a lot of stops logged by McAfee... Usually all the others find is some cookie or something, and even they are now gone with the latest revision of M.

A friend of mine is have a problem recently with Outlook as well.
I send here a link to a web site, she clicks on the link but it goes nowhere, and will not open the site.
I went into my sent folder to see what would happen and it works just fine.

Any suggestions on this?

Depending on how your version of Outlook is configured, or which version it actually is, you may have to hold the Ctrl key down while clicking the link.
