How to split audio tracks in editor ?

I have CoolEdit2k, Audacity, and WaveRepair but I cannot work out how to
split the tracks on a vinyl LP of a live performace. I can find the spot where the
clapping just about dies and the next track starts, and I can add a marker,
but how do I get a coupla seconds silence in there so the tracks will show
separately on the CD when its burnt ?
The auto split does not work on any of the 3 programs.

Cheers,

Chris.

Check your burning software. I believe you may be able to have it add 2 seconds of silence between tracks.

One way I do it is selected the the track, copy it, then paste it in a new instance of Audacity to edit as necessary. Then I export it to disk as a wav in a separate directory. Rinse and repeat to the same directory for the rest of the tracks. Use your favorite burner software to burn from that directory. If you happen to have Roxio's media creator 7.5 then it's a lot easier: you just slice up the tape / record recording like you would do for DVD movie chapters and burn the disk from the edit.

Thanks- Had no idea so many features were on Nero that I need to explore.
There is a visualisation of the waveform, zoomable, with time counter, etc.
Also many filters for crackle, and other noise.
Looks almost like you could take the raw WAV file out of the sound card
and go into Nero without using any other editor. I'll look at it some more.
Thanks !

In audacity just stop the playback where you want to split the tracks and then go to 'Generate' ---> Silence and tell it how much you want, click generate silence and you are done. HTH
