AVG Spyware Removal

I have heard that AVG was good for protecting my system. I have no gripes about their firewall or anti-virus, but one thing I noticed is that their free version of AVG Spyware Removal is a piece of #^$%. I have tried both AVG and Webroot, and I have to say that AVG has not caught a single piece of spyware on my laptop since I installed it. I even went onto sites that I know would show up in a scan but still nothing. I am switching back to Webroot which tends to do a pretty god job at removing spyware from my system, but for some reason they have not updated their version for a while. Well anyways just wanted to let you PC Mechs out there know, and I was also wondering as to if anyone had any other suggestions for spyware removal?

No one program does it all. You need to diversify; get AdAware SE, SpyBot, and the AVG AntiSpyware. You do not need an active spyware shield if you exercise good surfing habits and have a strong firewall. Run them all separately and quite often each catches something different.
