Outlook 2000 sluggish when typing message...
When typing a message in Outlook 2000, the letters showing up on my screen appear severl seconds after I type them on the keyboard. I noticed this before, and it still does this after I just did a clean install of XP. Can anyone help with this issue???

This happens only in Outlook?
There's no delay in any other program? Your specs are what ?

are you running IE7?? this was a common complaint when outlook users upgraded to IE7, it slowed down typing when using HTML email. The reason for this is that outlook checks every character against the restricted sites in IE7 since outlook uses IE7 as its HTML editor. If you have a spyware program like spyware blaster that puts many sites in the restricted items zone it slows down typing. The solution is to clear your restricted sites zone in IE7 and typing will go back to normal in outlook.

And yes, the hesitation occurs with HTML mail, but if I change to plain text, all is good. EDIT: If I go into Outllook, Tools, Options, Security, there is a setting for Secure Content. It is set to Restricted Zone right now. If I change it to Internet Zone, the problem if fixed. Is this better than deleteing the sites listed in the Restricted Zone??? do not change Outlook's security to Internet Zone, you really compromise the security of HTML emails. I had this exact problem myself, this is why I know how to fix it. Get rid of the sites in your IE7's restricted sites zone, its really not that big of a deal and the hesitation and slowness will go away. An alternative fix is to just use plain text email. Outlook 2007 does not have this problem as its uses Microsoft Word as its HTML editor.
