mp3 renaming for organizing playlists

Is there software out there that will allow me to change the name of a mp3 file to a name of my choice. I'm talking about the name that an mp3 player would sort it by, not the actual file name, I know how to do that. I basically want to change some of my mp3 files to name that better fits into the way I want to organize my playlists. So Im looking to change the name that show when you right click on the file and select "properties".

Thanks, a link to the software would be nice...

You need a program that will edit ID tags. I was happy with ID3-TagIT and TigoTago. You'll find links in the articles.

You can also edit tags via your media player most of the time. Winamp can do it.

What player do you use to listen to your MP3s? I think some of the players are capable of doing that as well.

You can try The God Father as well. Music match pro will tag stuff for you but the last release of MM that I used was 10 and it was HORRIBLE. I dont know if it has improved or not.

MM has turned into a bloated mess since Yahoo bought them out.
