DVD Player Shareware

Anyone know of a good program to run DVDs from? I like something simple and not something that worries about DVD compatibility. My HP laptop uses some QuickPlay that I like, but I don't think it runs as a shareware program. I just built my desktop, so I'm not sure where to look for a program that will run DVDs. (I put a DVD in the drive and it plays the sound, but no picture shows up. Interactual's player has failed me too many times, but it did the same thing in Win Media Player 11.)

Help! Thanks in advance!

I just got to thinking. The DVD drive I bought was OEM. If I remember correctly, don't retail DVD drives come with decoder software and programs that help show DVDs?

*sigh* Guess I'm getting that 2nd drive after all...

Retail DVD drives come with DVD playback software.
If this is a windows machine you can buy DVD player plug-in software here : http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...r/plugins.aspx

That will be cheaper then buying a full program.

Your other option is discount software provided you're willing to accept an older version.
Just remember that you need a version that came out after XP was released so don't buy any thing older than 3 or 4.

VLC Media player comes with its own MPEG codec (the one required to play DVDs) built in

VLC's great. As an added bonus to playing DVDs, it'll play any other video or audio format under the sun.

This is the site : http://www.5dollarsoftware.com/cypo5.html

But PowerDVD6 has been back ordered for 8 months now, so I've got really slim hopes of their getting it in.
That's a pity because if you don't have any HD plans version 6 is superb.
