I use Gnucash on my Ubuntu installation and according to the literature it works on Windows too:
LINKS: http://www.gnucash.org/ http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Windows EDIT: What do you want the accounting software for; home or business? Only asking as there are some decent freeware apps available for Windows but they are for home accounts only. Gnucash will do business accounts which is what I use it for. If you're not afraid to use something by M$ they have Accounting express 2007 for free. I guess it supposed to give them an inroads to the quickbooks users. I have it but havent used it much but the price is right

Freeware Apps:
AceMoney Lite: www.mechcad.net Money Manager Ex: www.thezeal.com/software/ Home Bookkeeping Lite: www.keepsoft.com/hbkl/index.html If you do decide to go the Excel route then visit the MS Office site and download one of the many free templates they have - you'll find a suitable accounting one in the list. |

Feedback on gnucash
I have tried to install gnucash without success. However, I have read that there are somethings that do not work in windows. The last thing that I need is an accounting package that is not totally solid.
It was worth a shot and appears to be a neat program. I am sure that there will be a version of gnucash that will be great and work properly in windows sometime in the future. |

I have looked at each of the suggested accounting packages and decided to try out Money Maneger Ex. It is open source, basic and seems to be a well thought out package.
Without your help I would not have found these links. Thanks. Last edited by Roberto; 07-08-2007 at 12:12 PM. |
