Dell latitude C610

Hi Guys,
I have Dell latitude C610, a p3 machine. Each time I put on the laptop, I would struggle to control the mouse. A friend told me it was a software problem; I should download the utilities and bios update from Dell web site. All I did but still had no luck. Can anybody help? Take care guys.
Regards

Does it have a touchpad on it? I usually download and install the Dell Touchpad software because it has an option to disable the touchpad when it detects a mouse.

The biggest problem with using the keyboard is that you tend to bump the touchpad which can cause erratic behavior. That may not be the cause. It could be the mouse. If it is an optical mouse some surfaces don't work well for opticals. If it is a non-optical then it could be a dirty mouse ball.
