Smile ISO Recorder and Virtual Control Panel XP

Hi guys,

I found these interesting Power Toys, which may merit a mention in the Free software list thread:

http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=92655

The first is the windows virtual cd-rom control panel,

http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-...ol-Panel.shtml

which allows you to create a virtual cd-rom drive on your hard disk to mount .ISO images. This would be particularly handy if you have a lot of cd-roms that you need to switch in and out of of your cd-drive often. By burning them to ISO image files you can double click and mount them right away. To convert your cd to .ISO, you can use the second freebie:

ISO Recorder. Which according to its tagline says:

ISO Recorder is a tool (power toy) for Windows XP, 2003 and now Windows Vista, that allows (depending on the Windows version) to burn CD and DVD images (DVD support is only available on Windows Vista), copy disks, make images of the existing data CDs and DVDs and create ISO images from a content of a disk folder.

Definitely worth checking out.

My only question about ISO Recorder is what image files (i.e. bin/cue, mdf/mdf,) it will create ISO's out of.

Also, here is a description/discussion of the XP Virtual Drive manager:
