msconfig help

ok So I found this nifty program called "Msconfig Cleanup". Its suppose to clean up your msconfig. When you open it, it looks like your msconfig but you can delete entries from it so they are never in your startup again. So i looked up all processes and removed all non needed ones. but then I got to msonfig and the list is still the same huge list.

Why isnt it sycing so to say?

What happens when you UNcheck items in Msconfig the good old fashion way?

What are some of the items/applications that are giving you grief?

The programs that are giving me grief the old fashion way are AOL, AIM, Quicktime, google, real player. I uncheck them and click apply and then I restart my comp and they still start. I go back to msconfig and they are checked again.

Why is it doing this?

Here's how to stop Quicktime : http://forums.cnet.com/5208-7813_102...sageID=1767113

If you go the registry route make a registry backup before you start changing things.

I have an older version of AIM that I keep for those rare times when it's necessary.
I stripped all the adware (wild tangent, etc. out of it) and at the time I installed it I set it not to load at start up.
I don't know if that's possible if you have the current version but go into preferences and check.
Real Player a has a start center in Preferences that you can disable.
Go here and scroll down for full instructions : http://service.real.com/help/player/...s/troubles.htm

Google?
Do you mean you have the Google toolbar or have you chosen one those new betas they're always releasing?
