Utility to hide windows
Hi all,
I'm running dual instances of folding at home, but they can't be started as windows services. This means that I'm stuck with 2 cmd windows constantly minimized in my start bar. Is there a utility to either hide these 2 windows, or better yet send them over to the task bar? (the area by the clock, whatever it's called :-) Thanks in advance!

Maybe this would work?

That's great, thanks! It adds a button next to close and minimize to 'iconify' or whatever, and sticks window's icon in the task bar. Perfect. (It also only uses 1mb ram, which is a plus).

So it's working OK? I have a comp that I may try it out on as well. If neither of us experiences a problem for a bit, I'd like to swap the link for it into the Info to Know thread and replace the reference for Hide-It. The latest version of that program was released in 1996 for Win95!

It works fine. The one drawback is that it adds a button next to the standard minimize, maximize, close buttons on the top right of _every_ window, but I've gotten over that. Haven't tried Hide-it, but win95 is a little old...

Me either, but I figured I would live with it. I just installed that 4T Minimizer you linked to, and it even lets you hide the tray icon of the program you minimized. I'm switching to it; my goal was to totally hide the FaH windows, and that's what it does. Right click on the minimize button, and the window disappears.

I've tried it on one of my boxes as well. Seems alright. I do like the customizability (if that's a word...). The hide the system tray feature seems a little buggy at times. It makes the clock slide halfway off my screen every once in a while, even though the "show clock" box is checked. It does pop right back when you scroll over it, however. Otherwise, seems a pretty decent tool.

When I had windows on my box, thats what I used to do.
I forget what the name of the I used was. Anyway, I used it for a long time with no problem.
