Hello every one, I just got done building my first PC, and I put a lot of work and money in to it and now it’s done so I wanted to know what software I should download from the internet to make my pc work at its best. I want to know what kind of net framework I should download and where; and if there is any other programs I need to download like Java and Adobe Flash Player or any other programs like that.
Thank you so much for your help!!!

There is really no rules on what software to install, just whatever you need personally. You don't have to download the .NET frameworks unless you have a program that requires it.
The only thing I'd recommend is a good anti-virus and anti-spyware suite. There are plenty of threads on that subject in the Security forum, but look at AVG, Spybot, AdAware, & CCleaner.

Basic, and very good, security can be had for a few free downloads : AVG, ZA, Spywareblaster, AdAware, Spybot.
Get them and you're covered ( If you've got Vista and not XP tell us now!). Tell Windows update that it ask you first before it does anything! OpenOffice for work (compatible with Windows Office.). Standard stuff that web sites use, WMP you already have (update it). Quicktime (even if you don't want iTunes), Real Player (free version). PDF creators/readers and Adobe Flash (also all free). No games without .NET (and I'm thinking lock-in) and make sure your DX version, as well the video/sound drivers, are up to date. Post your specs for anything more especially video editing stuff or burner software if you don't already have it with the hardware.

RealPlayer Alternative is worth a look: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...lternative.htm
You can play .rm files without all of the Real bloat. |
