Dragon Naturallyspeaking
I'm seriouslythinking of getting this software. I'm sure I don't want or need the super duper version. Anything I need to about the software? Recommendations will be very appreciated.
Mike

The Standard Version should do provided you're willing to put in some effort and that you have a sound card (Sound Blaster, otherwise it won't install) and a decent, noise canceling, headset/mic (I'm told one now comes with it.).
Make sure your computer meets the recommended hardware, preferably higher. Use "context" and add difficult/strange words to the recognition list before you use them. Train the software and make corrections as needed, I know they say you can skip this with version 9 but actually you can't. That 99% accuracy achievable strikes me as a little optimistic but if you do the above you should land well within the usable range.

My wife has used it to good success. It learns as you continue to use it, so accuracy improves with time. Definitely take the time to do the full setup rather than quick. Our version did come with a decent headset/mic.

Another "vote" for Dragon. I've had several versions and all came with a decent head set. The earlier versions didn't really seem ready for prime time but the latest version (mine is 9.x) works as advertised for me. I tried it with minimal training and was amazed at how well it worked. It can also be trained more fully during setup, or later on, and it does learn on the fly so it will (most of the time) recognize when you want Matt instead of mat.
