DVD to media player format.
Noob question.
How would i, for example, get the movie i have on a DVD, onto my computer in something like AVI or MPEG. Just so it can be played by Media Player (thus rendering the actual DVD useless) so i can watch my favorite films without digging through piles. Thanks

Downloaded and installed, appears i can only do three minutes worth unless i register.
Are there any other programs i can try? Or shall i just go through the hassel of finding a pirated version. |

You could rip the movie into an .iso file onto your hard drive and mount it with daemon tools. Then you could watch it with whatever dvd player you use for "real" discs.

Assuming it's a store-bought movie that you own, you would use programs such as AnyDVD in combination with a good rip program like DVDdecryptor or perhaps DVDshrink to get the movie onto your hard drive. There are many ripping programs. I use Decryptor and DVDshrink a lot.

Down load a trial copy of AnyDVD.
I usually just use the "Copy" in XP to send the movie to a folder on the usb hard drive. Open the folder click on the first video_ts file and PowerDVD6, my player of choice, plays back the whole thing just as if it were the disk. Anything more involved and I use CloneDVD. You can get them both here : http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html Since the free trial is 21 days you can try them both out thoroughly before you buy.

Thanks a bunch guys.
I just started creating images of the DVDs with Alcohol 120%, and then mounting them with Daemon. It'll do. It didnt NEED to be in a media player format as i should have said, i just wanted to watch my favourite films without going through a pile of cds. |
