Windows live messenger weird error.

Hi all.

When i'm trying to log on to Widows live messenger, i get "Error code 800701f4".
I looked and i did not find HOW to solve this problem.
I was able to log in last night, but when i tried again the whole day i could not log in.
Plus, the weird thing is i am able to log in through a web messenger but again, not through the PC installed software.

Can anyone help out ?.

Thank You.

Mine does the same thing. I dont know if its the same error code, but sometimes itll log me out and wont let me back in. Ill try all my other computers, but the same error comes up. Then the next day itll be fine...

it happens with alot of people.

Do you think they disable peoples accounts temporarily, to prevent the Servers overloading? It only happens to me in the evenings, obviously when most people are on.

What version of Windows are you running?

Could be a firewall issue. Check to ensure messenger is on the firewall exceptions list.

Here's a link to some info: http://72.14.253.104/search?q=cache:...lnk&cd=6&gl=ca

but it does it occasionally, if it was the Firewall surely it would just block it indefinitely?

I don't use Messenger, so I have no first-hand experience. I read a bit via Google and you are correct, there seems to be a lot of problems/remedies for this. Someone else may have the definitive answer...

Hi.
Thank you all.
Like RowanSpry said, it does log on, lets say one time in 3 days, thats means the port is open for messenger.
I do not think the account is being blocked, because i can log in through a web messenger.

If anyone has more info about this error, please share it on how we can solve it.

Thank You very much !.

I don't have Linux, I'm on Vista. Also i dont have any experience with any other messaging services other then MSN, and web messenger.

But one thing that i did notice, is it only ever does this when i genuinely NEED MSN for a very important matter. Its really, really odd. Its like some bastard at MSN is monitoring me and clicking "disable" when something of importance comes up lol.

> com.microsoft.messengerdaemon.plist

However, i can not find ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft, where is this folder, is it different in Vista ??

Thank You.

From the info you just gave i cant find anything like that anywhere. Are you sure thats for Vista, and for the particular version of messenger your using?

Could just contact the person / website you got that information.
