Where does Microsoft Outlook store file?

I need to find files such as contacts, emails and calender events to transfer to a new pc. this is the new outlook, not outlook express, and its on winxp. where do the files get saved so i can trasnfer them to a different pc? or can i just log in on the other pc and have them download?

Do a search for .pst files. That's all your Outlook data.

I found a outlook.pst file, in user/local setting/microsoft/outlook/outlook.pst

but thats it, if i transfer that to the new computer, will that automatically find all the other files? Or what?

Yup, just copy that file to your desktop on the new pc and use the Import feature in Outlook to import the file.

If you want to add a nice FREE feature to Outlook and protect yourself against losing those files by accident, check this tool from MS.

HI Chazell,

You can use the import/export option in the file menu in Outlook. Choose 'save as pst format' option, and export to a memeory stick or CD. THen use the same routine on the new machine. (choosing 'import, need I add)

HTH
