Quick explanation of Speedfan please
I ran Speedfan the latest version on my new system and this is what I get http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/2...readingfs6.png . The strange thing is the 53C core, 1st 2nd?. When I look under PC health in BIOS, my temp always hover around 36 37 41 42, since I am not really doing any load at all. So what are all those temperatures and names mean?
ALso, when I minimize the Speedfan, only the 25C show at the bottom bar and 25C is definitely not my CPU tempurature. Ok another quick question since I do not want to make a separate thread for it. Look at this http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/5...ardwaremy0.png . WHy are my optical and HD are show in that? My HP system does not do that, so is there liek something I am missing? One small thing about temperature though. When I ran nTune, it showed that my 8800 core is around 50 51 52. Last edited by Ahura; 09-22-2007 at 08:29 PM. |

Why is my new SATA drive showing up in Windows as a removable device?
This is one of the most frequent asked questions asked in this particular forum. New builders are surprised to find the 'safely remove hardware' icon appearing in their taskbar, allowing them to eject their SATA hard drive - even if it's the only drive installed in the system. This is not something that can be removed, but neither is it something to be concerned about. SATA is technically hot-swappable - just like USB, and unlike the older P-ATA (IDE) interface it replaces. Some motherboards come equipped with external SATA ports for the connecting of external eSATA capable hard drives, for example, and it is here where the ability to eject a SATA hard drive is needed. Internal hard drives, on the other hand, should not be connected or disconnected while the computer is turned on. In fact, you'll find that you cannot 'safely remove' the system drive even if you tried. It *is* possible to hide the icon, though, if you find it intrusive. In Windows XP, right-click anywhere on the taskbar and select properties. In the dialogue box that appears, check the "hide inactive icons" box, and click the customize button next to it. Locate the 'safely remove hardware' icon in the list that appears, and choose 'always hide' in the drop-down list next to it, under the heading marked 'behavior'. To see the icon from this point on, you'll need to click the small arrow to the left of your tray icons near the clock. |

I don't use it, not worth the hassles. I trust the bios temperatures and if they are good, I don't worry about it.

I know the BIOS temperature is best, but it is so inconvenience to reboot just to look at the number for liek 2 seconds. I do not mind the give or take, just as long as an idea is fine x.x

Why do you even need to look at the temps if the computer is running properly? The temperatures you have already listed are WELL within safe limits.
