I have the free version & have used it for over 3 years now. The problem just started 5 days ago. Should I stop auto update & go to manual> Thanks.

Mine has done that for the last couple of weeks Rev... I just click the x to ignore it and don't bother. When I switch my computer off and on it will install it, until then I'll be fine

Thanks for the responses. Guess I'm just being bitchy. I don't shut my box off unless am instructed to for some reason, because of F@H. AVG has been good to me so guess I will put up with this till they correct the problem. Thanks again

open up avg-->click on update manager-->properties-->make sure the radio button for "update immediately" is highlighted and NOT the radio button for "update upon next computer restart"

This seems to have worked. Thanks a bunch. Just wonder why it would happen after 3 years. Thanks again. RevCLB

Rev,
One of the updates you would recently have installed was updates to the update manager itself, same as I did... this would have probably reset our preferences. I didn't think of this until cmillar6 pointed out you could change the properties

Cheers btw cmillar
