OpenOffice scrolling problem
I can't remember if I've posted this before, or if this is the right section, but here goes.
Has anyone figured out how to fix the scrolling problem in OpenOffice document in Vista? It will not scroll with the mouse wheel and I'm not sure how to fix it. I've found similar complaints online but no solutions. Any ideas?

What scolling problems do you have?
I have vista and was just able to scroll perfectly fine. Do you have OpenOffice 2.3? |

Nope, 2.2.1. I'm going to download the new one and see if that fixes it for me. It sounds like they updated it.

Just uninstalled OpenOffice and installed 2.3 and it still won't scroll correctly. If you push the wheel down really hard the page jumps downward, but otherwise it does nothing.

Under the control panel and Mouse, choose wheel and see if the option for scroll X number of lines at a time is selected.
Can't really think of much else. What about other programs? Do they work ok? EDIT: In Open Office, under options. Go to view, and see what it says for middle mouse button. Last edited by shadowpr; 10-26-2007 at 08:22 PM. |

Nothing works. I tried going into the mouse settings and creating program specific settings, but when I changed the wheel mouse button from "Instant Viewer" (lets me see all my open windows at one time like a Mac - ability of the wireless keyboard / mouse drivers and not Vista) to "middle-click" nothing happened. That's the only option I have concerning the mouse wheel.
I don't see the scroll x number of lines at a time option in the openoffice menu. I did find smooth scrolling and it was enabled. |

Yeah, unfortunately nothing happened when I disabled it. This is pretty weird. I'm going to try out a regular wired mouse later on and see if it does the same thing. That would rule out the wireless desktop set if it didn't work either.
I'm still thinking it might be something with Vista because of the complaints I found online, although it's weird that it's working fine for you. |
