Troubles with Word & Excel

Hi
I知 having problems with MS Word and Excel. Recently always when I want to start Word or Excel, I知 getting message to install some new feature. I need to cancel couple times, that pop-up and after that everything works fine. I try to install using the CD but I知 getting error message that the file POPULIS is not correct.
I don稚 want to install anything. How to get rid of that first message for installing

Thanks, D

I can't tell if you're zapping new features or security updates.
What new feature(s) ?

I'm not sure. I was working on something and didn't pay attention when I was prompt for the first time to instal. I just klick 'OK", and since then I'm having those problems. Is there any way to stop/cancel promt for instalation when I start Word or Excel?

I have seen it do that with add-on programs. Acrobat and other ones like Avery add a macro to the startup that gets a little flitzy. What version of Office is it?

This may get you out of the problem if you let the Office update install :

Quote:
Do you have any other Office family applications such as FrontPage? You can
check the Add/Remove Programs applet to see what Office XP applications the
operating system thinks are installed. The Office Update looks at the same
registry data that the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs applet uses.
Uninstall anything you don't need that is related to Office XP.
