file recovery for flash media?
Anyone know if any of the programs out there for recovering deleted data from a usb thumb drive are any good? Know of any free ones?
A co-worker just learned an expensive lesson on backing up data. He accidently deleted a lot of work from his thumb drive and wants it back. |

Here's a list of them : http://search.techrepublic.com.com/s...+recovery.html
This one has a 30 day trial : http://software.techrepublic.com.com...x?docid=302517 but they're all worth looking over.

The absolute best one for removable media is Badcopy Pro from Jufsoft. The free demo will tell you what it can recover when you buy the key.
EDIT: A freebie you can try is Recuva from the same people that do Crap Cleaner. As long as he has not written anything to the drive since the deletion, it should get them all back. Last edited by glc; 11-15-2007 at 10:30 AM. |

Thanks for the help guys. He ended up purchasing one the programs I showed him before I could tell him about the free ones. He paid $50 bucks but it worked and he is happy but will start backing up his data on his home pc now.
