Interactive Desktop backgrounds
Is there a way to have a kind of 'interactive' Desktop background? So there would (for example) you could have buttons on the desktop that would do different things. IE one would change my firewall setting (IE Computer in Domain to Standalone) or a virus scan button on the desktop?

Kind of just like what shortcuts are designed to do?
But really, would you want to launch some hugh expensive application and have it running all the time to do what you can alreay do with a few extra clicks?
