64-bit Java compatible with EM64T?

I just built a new system with a Core 2 Quad and Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Unfortunately it seems like the 64-bit versions of Java will not work with this CPU in 64-bit mode.

Anyone know if there is a way to get Java to work with EM64T CPU's?

Do you have version 6, update 3?

I have vista hp 64, and that's the version I have and it works with no problems.

That was true more than a year ago : http://sharikou.blogspot.com/2006/02...ort-em64t.html

But with JRE6 it may no longer be so.

Here's the whole story as of last October, with solutions : http://weblogs.java.net/blog/chet/ar...n_vista_y.html

Scroll down for Vista and get the work around, the problem seems to be IE7 : http://java.sun.com/javase/6/webnotes/
