Inserting table & figure (table of contents) in MS word

I know how to make a table of contents using the style, then insert>reference>table of contents. That worked fine. But when it comes to tables, it does not work that fine. I am not sure why. I did "stlye" my table with the given template. But when I insert table it says
"Error! No table of figures entries found."

I formatted the title, the table, but still I could not manage to put the tables/figures in the table of contents. Does anyone know how to do it?
