Office 2003, 2007, which starts
I currently have Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007 installed on my computer running XP Pro. When I open up any file, Excel, Word, etc. Office 2007 opens it. The only way I can get Office 2003 to open up a file is to first open 2003 and then look for the Excel or Word file. How can I set Office 2003 to be the default, and open these files instead of 2007 ?

Why have both installed?
Just uninstall the one you don't want.

shadowpr --- Until I become more familar with 2007, I need to use 2003 when in a hurry.
Then I will eventually remove 2003. |

Lespaul20 -- I do not have any shortcuts for Office 2003 or 2007, and I can't seem to make any. If I click on Start / Programs I then see Microsoft Office. If I then right click on it, and then choose Properties, I get three tabs. General, Sharing , and Customize. Nothing about "Open with, Change, etc. Also when I right click on Microsoft Office after Programs, there is no option to make a shortcut. When I just put the mouse over MIcrosoft Office i see about 7 programs for 2003, and then about 7 programs for 2007, all in one big list.
See , I have the Excel files under MY DOCUMENTS. I just look for the file I want to open and click on it. But then 2007 opens the file. |

Opps, I meant any file you want 2003 to open, like a word file. That will change which program will be the default for that type of file.

Lespaul20, I right clicked on the Excel file I want to open, then I chose Properties, Open with and then Change, I see several programs listed. But I only see Microsoft Office Excel listed. There is no MIcrosoft Office Excel 2003, or MIcrosoft Office Excel 2007 listed. Just Microsoft Office Excel. I do not know why there are no other listings there for 2003 or 2007. Because like I said before, if I click on Start / Programs / Microsoft Office, I then see all the programs in 2003 and 2007 with each one labeled. I tried clicking on Excel 2003 there. I did get a Properties tab, but nothing looked like it would set the default to 2003. Guess I just have to open Excel 2003 first, and then the file. Thanks for your suggestions.
