Updates or Outdates
It always seems like whenever XP brings me some new updates, something else quits working.  The last group of new arrivals that downloaded refuse to install. I did a re-install my OS (XP Pro) recently to correct what the downloads before that had brought me. Now I am getting all of the 89 updates downloaded, but they will not install. I had a similar problem one other time when it refused to install SP 2. I found then that it was my AVG & SpySweeper that wouldn't let it install. I turned them off and installed while the computer was off line. That doesn't want to work this time.  I can find no help from the usual MS websites. Any ideas?  Thanks |

What downloads/updates are they? Windows or Microsoft?

The Winner
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144 It took method 2 on this page to get me going. It appears that by repairing the XP Pro with the XP-CD it caused some files to be missed. This cure http://download.windowsupdate.com/Wi...gent30-x86.exe Fixed me up. I will file this away for future reference. Thanks Guys |
