Does your motherboard manufacture provide anything?

Back in the days when I was attempting to learn overclocking(will be starting that again once i get my core 2 duo for xmas and a WC system) I learned one thing about thermal situations.
I have an asus board and that gave me one reading. I downloaded a shareware thermal program and that gave me another reading. I quickly rebooted into my bios and that gave me another temp. I personal got sick of how software determins how to read thermal caluclations and went back to usings good old thermal probes. If I had to relate it to something I would say its the same theory of use a hardare raid controller then to let windows handle your raid. I feel this is the same scenario with thermal scans. Im not saying you cant get a semi accurate guess-tamate with a software one, but I am stating if your looking for the most accurate reading (OCing requires it to be most accurate) use a thermal probe. |

Ok thx boys, Yes i agree with you Dia, that is the only way to get a absolutely true reading from ya pc, ive just put the thing toghether and to be honest ATM i couldnt be bothered putting sensors all through, but might do eventually
I used the speedfan reccommended by Kov-Ice, and it seems good, just a question or 2 Im running siasoft sandra at the same time to compare temps, just wondering what some of the readings mean on speedfan SIASOFT SANDRA Board temp 36.0 C/96.8 F Cpu temp 26.0 C/78.8 F Auxillary temp 52.0 C/125.6 F SPEEDFAN Temp 1 36.0 C Temp 2 26.0C Temp 3 51.0C Core 55.0C Ambient 0C Im presuming that temp 1 2 and 3 are what they are on siasoft sandra, board, cpu and auxillary what is the auxillary temp? and what is it based on? is that a little high? Also what is the core temp? and what is it based on? is that a little high? i have a 80mm fan on side of case blowing into pc and i have a 80mm fan on rear sucking out air, i have the fan that came with my cpu, think thats all good and i run a GT6600 video card that has 2 small fans on the card itself Can anyone help me out on this?, Thx boys Last edited by Hardball; 12-21-2007 at 03:29 AM. |

Auxiliary temp is probably the Northbridge chip. 51 sounds OK.
You have enough fans. As a test, disconnect the side fan and see if it makes a difference, it may be disturbing the proper airflow path. Then again, it may be helping. |
