Error Message

I 'm not sure if this is the right place to put this thread in..Oh well..
A message just randomly pops onto my screen.
It says:
"NMIndexStoreSvr.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
What does this mean?
It doesn't close any open programs or anything but I just find it annoying.
I'm using XP if that helps.
Thanks!

Description

nmindexstoresvr.exe is part of Nero Scout that comes with Nero CD/DVD Burning 7. Nero Scout is a database program that catalogs all of the media files on your computer and that makes this database available to other programs in the Nero 7 product package. This process can be removed to free up system resources.

It is possibly looking for media that was originally associated with Norton.
Try a registry cleaner like CCleaner, you can download it here: http://www.ccleaner.com/

There are four very useful tools with CCleaner, first and foremost is the registry cleaner.
Run CCleaner and click on the icon that looks like a pile of building blocks (issues), next click on "Scan for Issues" and let it run. When it has finished it will prompt you to "Fix selected issues", click on Fix and you will then be prompted to make a registry backup. I have been using CCleaner for years and have never found the need to backup the registry, the choice is yours. After you have followed the prompts run the scan again and keep running it until it finds no more issues (usually about three scans and fixes).
The other Tools in CCleaner are one to clean Windows up for you, another one to clean up your programs and then there is the "Start Up and Uninstaller Utility.
The Start Up utility is the same as using MSCONFIG without the warning window when you reboot your machine.

I would uninstall Nero, then run CCleaner, then reinstall it. One of the questions asked after the install relates to Scout, I recommend you leave it unchecked, it's not needed and it's just one more thing to get in your way.

I also recommend you try to do an intelligent custom install of Nero, half the stuff it wants to install these days is just useless crap. Read the description of every item and decide whether you need it or not. Another fine software package that's become hopelessly bloated with every new version.
