Turning old machines into thin clients

I have a lab full of aging machines that could use some new life. Right now, they're all running windows 2000 on hardware that isn't exactly speedy anymore (about 5-7 years old).

Now, I had a thought last night and was wondering if anyone has come across or tried this. Basically, would it be possible to turn these machines into thin client/dumb terminals and run Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 for providing an O/S for the workstations?

If not, would there be another way to go about using them as thin clients/dumb terminals?

Thanks

I use a bunch of slower machines (from W98 timeframe,PII 350 to 600mhz) as terminals for Unix stuff. Costs under $100 for the terminal software and the networking interconnect is a huge step up from the 232 based WYSE terminals. Machines were purchased over several months at $80 or less, including OS key. I've also used a dozen or so as the platform of choice for multiple UNIX boxes running a pre Y2K version of SCO.

Haven't considered the thin client model for them.

If you have any Linux requirements, they might be considered for that in command line mode.

I'd like to keep things Windows-based. The users here would freak out if they saw a unix command line.
