Firefox Lost history

I've been using Firefox version 2.0.0.11 happily for a few months. During that time I've had system crashes that have terminated my online sessions. When that happens, AND if I don't ask Firefox to restore my previous session, I lose all my history. If I do ask Firefox to restore the
terminated session, the history is intact. I also lose all of my address bar history the same way, ie, restore previous session retains address bar history, etc. Please enlighten me as to what is going on here.

Thanks.

That's the only way to restore history, by design.

You sure about that? I'd like to see some documentation.

This is all I could find after a quick search other than actually having Firefox installed to go through the steps. http://email.about.com/od/staysecure...t_clear_ff.htm

What I think is happening is when Firefox is shutdown unexpectedly is not actually being closed so the private data would remain with the old session. Creating a new session would be the same as closing one and starting a new session and therefor your private data would be deleted if that box is checked.

Firefox history replies

Thanks for the replies, but I didn't have my personal data set up to clear at logout, so I'm still not sure what is happening. As of yesterday, I unchecked all of the clear out options to see if it makes a difference the next time my system freezes up.
