Media Center database

Hi there,

Me and my Pals have a large collection of Films, TV, music e.t.c and we were looking into the possibility of buying software which will in effect organise and play media files.

We all work in IT so have been looking into the possibility of putting a Web interface onto an Access database - does anyone know if this is possible. We are after a web login where files can be streamed e.t.c

Thanks

First, are you lawyer-proof?

You're in a position to be slammed legally as soon as this hits the web .

You may intend no harm but that will not save you.

Unless you're a licenced distributor or have special licenses to put on public viewings, the legal hounds will frown on this because of essentially making "for private use only" material available for public use (ie, the internet).

Now, if you're just talking about a making a list of the media files you have, while perfectly legal, it probably wouldn't be wise to distribute that publically.

Where I said streamed I meant across a local network - I wasnt refering to the Internet.

Just to clear that up

Just a fancy database really with a nice interface which will play files from my Media center.

If you're all running iTunes Bonjour will make it possible for all of you to share the library.
