Annoying Word 2007 thing

Whenever I press enter in Word 2007 instead of going to the next line it skips one. I have already set it to not add space between same style paragraphs which fixes it temporarliy. If I set this to be default, it goes back to skipping lines when I close Word. How do I fix this?

Word 2007 by default introduces a 10-point spacing after each paragraph.

When you set that to 0 in a document, your change affects only that document, and does not become a Word setting (if you get what I mean). SO when you do that in a document and close and reopen Word of open a new blank document, it will apply the default 10 point spacing after each paragraph.

To get rid of this permanently, open Normal.dot, which is normally located at C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\, and make the required changes to that file, then save it.

Next time Word opens a new blank document, there will be no space.

Couldn't find that directory, maybe that is for Vista? I'm using XP.

Sorry, that was on Vista.
The folder in XP would be C:\Documents and Settings\%Username%\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates\.

You may need to unhide System Files and Folders to see the path.

Also, be sure to open Normal.dot from within Word. If you simply try to open the file directly, it will only spawn a normal Word document.

Or, shift+enter would make it not skip a line.
