BitComet Problem

Hi, I've been downloading torrents for a while and just recently I've run into this problem after changing some parts on my comupter. It says on BitComet that my listen port is blocked and that it could be due to my firewall or NAT router settings. I have no idea how to change my firewall or router settings to adjust to this. I'll gladly list my computer parts if you need them. Thanks in advance!

I don't think you're allowed to talk about torrents on here.

Did you install a firewall recently? You might be blocking the ports with it. You have to search for it in your firewall program settings and allow it.

Torrents themselves are not a problem to discuss on the forum. It is the illegal uses for torrents we cannot help with.

As for your problem, what firewall do you use? If it is the built-in XP firewall, just temporarily disable it to see if that solves the issue.

My firewall is off and it's still the same. Could it be something about my router? Something about NAT configurations.

Very possible. Google "BitComet Speed Guides" and you'll find a tutorial to walk you through the settings.

It is also a possibility that your ISP is restricting the port to prevent torrenting from using up their bandwidth. So if their is no change after setting up the router, that could be why.

Did you try forwarding the port BitComet uses?

I created a static IP and forwarded the listen port. Everything is good now. Thanks.

I thought everything was good, but occasionally BitComet would say that the listen port is blocked and sometimes it'll be fine. What could the problem be?
