Question Removing "Packet Writing" Software?

I'm about to back up my major files (in W2K) using the freeware program "SyncBack," which comes highly recommended...

The SyncBack Help files mention that CDs/DVDs must FIRST be formatted in UDF before SyncBack can be used, and recommends a free program that can accomplish this called
"HP DLA" (both 4.60 & 4.95 versions needed).

The instructions for installing HP DLA call for "removing other packet writing software" first. I have "Iomega HotBurn Pro" that I use for burning CDROMs--is this considered "packet writing software?" (I'm really not happy about removing it, if it is, because it performs so well...)

Thanks for any feedback.

Packet writing software has a "causes trouble" reputation but if it works for you then back it up separately and let SyncBack do its thing.

Examples of packet writing software are Roxio DirectCD, Nero InCD, Sonic DLA, and NTI FileCD.
