Acronis 9 Incremental or Differential?
What are the strengths and weaknesses between the two? Upgraded my backup solution and need real world advise on this. Any glaring differences down the road? Had this installed on a box (awhile ago) and sold the computer before digging in and learning it.
Thanks, bd1886 |

Pros and cons:
1. Differential Pro: Makes for an easier bare metal restore - restore the latest full followed by the latest differential. Con: Differential backups get progressively larger, because they back up everything that has been changed since the last full backup. They take more time. 2. Incremental Pro: Conserves space, because it only backs up anything changed since the last backup of any type. Takes less time. Con: Makes a bare metal restore more difficult because you have to restore the latest full, followed by each incremental in sequence. |
