NERO 7 install question...
I recently built a new system and the DVD burner w/lightscribe came with a copy of NERO 7...
When I start to install it the program says I need to update my version of DirectX to version DirectX 9.0c. But I have VISTA Ult. 64 with Direct X 10? Any help with this would be very appreciated! |

NERO 7 help says DirectX 9.0c is required for installation...Will this erase my DirectX 10?

Did you check for compatibility or for any updates or patches to NERO 7 ?

I got this from Nero website about NERO 7...
Microsoft® Windows VISTA x64 Edition (All applications besides InCD, Nero Scout and Nero ImageDrive work in the x86 emulator that allows 32-bit Windows applications to run. Gadgets are NOT available under VISTA x64!!!) What does this mean exactly? I am not familiar with NERO 7 so I have no idea if it is even worth loading if "All applications besides InCD, Nero Scout and Nero ImageDrive work in the x86 emulator that allows 32-bit Windows applications to run. Gadgets are NOT available under VISTA x64!!!) " I think I will have to spend $100 bucks on NERO 8 if I want to use NERO...However, I would feel kinda dumb spending that much money if there are other programs out there that support lightscribe and do what NERO 8 does? However, if NERO 8 is really good and user friendly I would not mind paying that... What do you use? |

InCD is packet writing software, drag and drop, and it won't work under Vista.
When you're reading on CDFreaks you'll find that losing this may not be a problem since the usual advice is not to install it. Nero Scout Quote:
In short Vista 64 cripples two important Nero functions. I don't know what it does to light scribe, have you checked that as well? |

I don't remember when I installed it, but Nero 7 works in Vista 64. I only installed the minimum anyways, and then what was needed for lightscribe.
I'm also able to burn iso's with no problem.

I know this may sound like a stupid question but seriously do not want toscrew anything up, plus I would like to understand why? If you have already loaded it as you said then I will try it as long as it does not hurt my machine...Plus, can you tell me what I should choose under custom load? |

As for it deleteing dx10, it can't. I think I just said yes to it, and let it go.
What to install is up to you. Just read the little description of everything. I think I only installed the actuall program, and smart essentials. I didn't need anything else. If you find you need something else, you can always go back and install it later. Install coverdesign for lightscribe too. Then you need to get the lightscribe update online. http://www.nero.com/enu/technologies...-labeling.html |

Your software from NERO is outdated, DX9 is for XP, Vista natively supports DX 10.
Do not install DX 9. An earlier version of DX will not overwrite a later one but the software it's included with may not install either. Vista has a default generic software of DVD-R drives, use it till you read up on what you need to do. |
