Outlook 2007 - Sending message but outbox empty?

Guys, need some help again. My PC at work is driving me nuts. it has been trying to send out one email for months now, but the outbox is empty. I have searched the net trying to find a solution since the IT guy doesn't seem to know how to fix it.

I have found various articles referring to a read receipt that might be stuck, but I have used outlookspy and can't find any read receipt. The error I get when the message can't be sent is as follows:

"Task 'XXXX@XXXX.com - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: 550 sorry, no mailbox here by that name (#5.1.1)'

The email address in question is my work email address, and has always fuctioned perfectly. The send error is just very irritating, and I need it resolved.

BTW I run XP SP2 and Office 2007.

Thanks

Gus

I would help to know what you've tried and if you've installed the updates for Office 2007, there's a service pack now out.

Pam123, SP1 is installed, all Microsoft products are up to date, and i have reinstalled office twice with no change. This problem has been there since 2007.

It sounds as if you've pretty much covered the "stuck" read receipt problem and you're updated.
So I'll try your patience somewhat further while I asked you some simple minded questions.

When you reinstalled Office ( You uninstalled fully not just a repair reinstall?) did you simply configure outlook with basic settings before you reinstalled any backed up files ?
If it held no more then your mail password and your email address what happened then?
