How do you make this happen? (Start Program)

I am talking about the Programs list in Start. Usually for me, the list is hidden, BUT the most recently used. And when it does that, there is a lil arrow at the bottom to tell you that there are more programs.

But just the last reformat, that option seems to just stop. I am just wondering if anyone knows how to turn it on so that it could kind of "clean up" my Programs list to a more compact size..

http://ask-leo.com/how_do_i_get_the_...s_display.html

That link tells how to do it on the newer XP style menu with the "Scroll Programs" option, as well as how to do it on the older Classic menu style (like Win 9x).

EDIT: Well, technically the question on that page goes the other way (they want to know how to UNhide them). Same option that you have to change though.

Hm.....Mine, classic, has always been checked, but for some reason it is not doing it though.....Hmm....

It's not worky!!

I checked both Personalized Menu and Scroll Program from Classic, yet NUTHING!!

Do you think this has anything to do w/ TweakUI? My interface is kind of queer ever since i picked around TweakUI few days ago. It feels as if a click reset everything to default.

Possibly.....although I just went through TweakUI on my machine and can't find a single thing that would change that or keep you from changing it either. The above-mentioned method is the only way I know of changing the scrolling program menus. Unless, of course, you're familiar with changing things in the registry. If so, you might use regedit and navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
and look for the entry on the right called StartMenuScrollPrograms. See if it's value is "YES"....that's what it needs to be to enable scrolling menus. If it says "NO", right click it, select "Modify", and in the Value box type "YES", then Okay and get out of the registry editor. Log off then log back on to make sure the changes take effect.

And if this doesn't work, I'm stumped.
