I hate iTunes. It's never worked for me and i've run into yet more trouble. But I need it for my iPod so I have little choice.
In a hopeless attempt to find some old deleted files, I had used system restore to a date in mid-March. Once it turned up no results, I undid the restore back to the present day. This is what I think the cause of this problem is as it worked perfectly before. Strangely, everything else works. I click the shortcuts and I get a message saying "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed". I click the real link to the program and I get this: http://aycu31.webshots.com/image/501...7220450_rs.jpg I click "remove" from within add and remove programs and this comes up: http://aycu24.webshots.com/image/492...0146464_rs.jpg I click "OK" and this comes up: http://aycu09.webshots.com/image/495...2429109_rs.jpg I click "cancel", it says "preparing to remove" then this comes up: http://aycu09.webshots.com/image/495...5760782_rs.jpg I try to rewrite over it by installing the version from the website and this comes up: http://aycu18.webshots.com/image/482...7334027_rs.jpg I'm completely at a loss for what to do. I cannot open iTunes. I cannot reinstall iTunes. I cannot uninstall iTunes. I cannot remove iTunes. I have this useless program on my computer and there's nothing I can do about it. Nothing works. Can I remove it manually? What on earth is the problem? Advice will be greatly received.

Get this : http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=290301
Do not have your iPod connected during any of this. Now go copy your iTunes folder to someplace safe and then use the uninstaller you've just downloaded. Get everything. You should be able to reinstall iTunes.

I've done exactly that and little success. iTunes now no longer registered within the uninstalling programs until I reinstalled it which did work but i'm still getting this when I try and run the program: http://aycu31.webshots.com/image/501...7220450_rs.jpg
Half-way there! What is there to do now? There's nothing wrong with my audio configuration... or is there? New drivers, perhaps? Thanks for the help thus far!

The problem would appear to be Quicktime.
This is the usual fix for it : http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304424 |

Hey again. Belated thanks for solving the problems! This site continues to star.
![]() I've realised that Limewire has a similar issue, but I haven't come around to posting about it here since I use the program so little. But to have an unusable program on my PC is annoying. An error message says, when I click the program, "LimeWire needs Java RunTime Environment 5.0 or above. Click OK to go to www.java.com, where you can install Java." I've done this and no success. So should I uninstall Java? I don't really want to without knowing what it'll do as there seems to be many components as shown here: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2eb7hir&s=3 How should I deal with this one? I kept it in the same thread as the same thing caused the issue. |

You don't need all those copies of Java, if you right click on them and note their size you'll see you've got 5 separate versions of Java on your system, that's just borrowing trouble.
I don't use LimeWire but I do know that it has caused trouble for people with iTunes installed and that you really need to check out some place like CDFreaks or AVS forum and get up to speed on what's happening with that program ( I would have thought it had been superseded by now.). http://www.cdfreaks.com/ http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/ |
