Need Corel Wordperfect opinions.

Just purchased an unopened copy of Corel Wordperfect Office X3 Standard Edition. It was a Goodwill find and was blown away at what the retail on this is! Have been finding good components as of late at this particular store. (Zalman coolers, WD and Seagate externals and even a unopened copy of Vista Home Premium.) Anyways...went to the Newegg site and found the retail for this particular version to go for $259.00! I have no use for this (as Open Office is good enough for our needs) and was wondering How does this compare to the other main suite?
How popular are the Corel products? Appreciate any info to help me attach a realistic secondary market value for it's sale or barter. Thanks all!

Wordperfect are not as popular as MS office that's for sure. A couple of years ago, it was a good alternate, but nowadays most people use MS office.

It is however a fairly good suite to use compared to office. I'm thinking maybe the resale value would be a little more than half the retail price. Check ebay and see if people are selling the product and use their prices as a starting reference. Hope that helps.

Almost worthless. You can buy it for less than $20 at surplus software houses.

If all you need is a word processor try either installing the one from Open Office or downloading AbiWord, both are free and both can use/open Windows Office files.

Wow...The prevalence of the acceptance of Office (as default) sure has impacted all other suites! People like this suite it seems.(Especially the users of the previous versions.) However they still seem to use Office occasionally, in the business environment, due to a few features. Thanks. I may just keep it and use it.

WordPerfect is a good package overall. Since you have it, I'd keep it and use it.

It has a built in dictionary that is really useful. However, other than that it is pretty mediocre. In fact, kind of annoying to use especially when you open .Doc.

I haven't kept up with word processor suites for years, but having used Word Perfect since the days of DOS, it has always be a leader in word processors. In years past, it is commonly known that after a new Word Perfect release, MS's next release would mysteriously have some of the Word Perfect older version's features. It has a lot more than "just" a dictionary, which it has had for a whole lot of years.

Purely from a technical standpoint, the WordPerfect word processor is actually more advanced than M$ Word.
