Does anyone know what is the function of windows installer application?
What does this application do? |

All Microsoft programs use the MSI for installs.

everytime i execute a program the "windows installer" window pops up and its driving me crazy, what should i do

Read what it's trying to tell you. You can't troubleshoot without seeing what it's trying to install.

all it says in the box is "preparing to install" ?? there is no program description at all or anything to let me know what it is.
I even went into the device manager while it was "installing" and there was nothing in there. Im updating my windows right now to see if that will help, havent done it in a while so hopefully that will work. Last edited by Tregrad; 07-12-2008 at 05:02 PM. |

here are a few screenshots of what im talking about "windows installer"
here is a pic of when i tried to un install office 2003 "windows installer2" I think I have narrowed it down to the conflict between office 2007 and 2003 but then when i started windows messenger it pulled up the "windows installer" window again. |

office 2007 (word, excell etc.) all office programs do it. it just did it with windows media player too
I updated to service pak 3 last night and i tried to install teh new installer program and it wouldnt install because the service pak 3 has a newer version in it.
