ISO's are an image of a disk. Often used to create a CD or DVD that is ready to use. For example, a common way of obtaining Linux distibutions.

So it is just like a CD Image that we install in our computer and all the files eg.music and graphic that require a CD-ROM can simply use this ISO image to run.

Basically. There are various programs for "mounting" an ISO image, which is basically like putting the CD in the drive. It's useful for working around certain manufacturer precautions to reduce duplication and counterfeiting of software.

It's more of a container than a compressed file
