Something using up my wmpntwk.exe when I'm not
I use windows media player sharing to share videos and music to my 360. Recently I'd play something and it would work fine, but stutter throughout the video, at which point I stopped it and turned off my 360. But even after that my wmpntwk.exe cpu load stays around 25 and it's using up to 200mb of memory. I have to manually turn off media sharing to get it to free up. How can I find out what is using that program even when I'm not sharing. I have another PC in the house but it's denied access to my media files.
I used process explorer to see all the handles that are using the process and found wmp.dll is the one using up the process, but don't know why. |

Are you getting any errors?
Does anything show up in Event Viewer. wmp.dll seems to attract Windows Explorer's attention so if that's going on while you're trying to stream your video you will have problems. What OS are you running and is that wmp 11 ?

I'm not getting erros, But something is running my wmp while I'm not streaming. I have WMP11 on xp sp3. I can start to stream but even when I turn off the 360, it still runs up my cpu and memory (about 150-180megs).

OK read through this : http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6142_102...sageID=2361900
You don't want to disable wmp 11 but you too may have a corrupt AVI file causing the problem. |
