Download Manager??

I heard that download managers can have spy ware in them that's why they are free. Do you know if there is free safe download managers and what are the names please.

Back in the day when I was on dialup, I used getitright (or getright) for pausing and resuming downloads. I can't vouch for it now, as this was years ago. It looks like now you also have to pay for it :-/

For the most part nowadays, I just use opera's download manager. Firefox's download manager is adequate as well.

As for me, outside of the download manager that comes with Firefox, I avoid them whenever possible (more about emusic below) but if you connect to You Tube or sites like it or use P2P you may need another one.

Just a word of warning, if you update the download manager always read the change logs and any policy updates, I'm very fond of emusic but I missed the fact that they were including a tribal fusion tracking cookie in their manager.

I have never used a 3rd party download manager. I use Bulletproof FTP for FTP, and either Opera or Firefox for HTTP downloads.
