Urgent

Unfortuantely I have made a huge mistake.

I got a new blackberry and decided to sync it with the outlook 2007 address book, which was my only copy of an address book.

Unfortunately, for some reason, although the setup was to sync both dvice and pc, as I have already entered 3 contacts on the BB, I started the sync process and at the end all i found was the 3 phone contacts on my PC.

The BB wiped all my contacts on Outlook 2007 and put in the 3 contacts, instead of the 500+ that i had.

So if anybody here knows anyway to recover the contact list it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying not to use the computer a lot or to download anything as to be able to recover any overwritten file if possible.

Please any help.

Thank you...

It sounds like you have your Blackberry setup to override your Outlook address book. I set my BB up so that Outlook always wins. On the Blackberry Desktop Manager, click on Synchronize, then click on Configure Sync. You'll get a popup that shows the different apps you can sync. Click on Outlook then click on the Advanced button. There is a button that says Conflict Resolution. Click on that and select the options you want to rule. If you want Outlook to win then click on Microsoft Outlook wins.

I am using version 4.3.0.17 of the DT manager. Check your settings then let us know.

Well conflict resolution is pointing at BB winning "the conflict", so the blackberry should only override when there is a conflict, if there is no conflict, it should add whatever is missing on the device or PC to the the other. On the other hand a conflict is when a certain contact has different numbers on the disfferent hardware, then one of them has to win.

In my case, i had nohing but three entries on the BB. So why did i lose everything.

Also i don't think this trobleshooting will help me get back my contacts, it will only help avoid future problems.

I don't know if we can save you but we do need information on what you had set-up and what happened when synced the Blackberry ( they give you options).
You may have a file with all the info, unavailable until you go through a few more steps, or you may have wiped it so we need to check.
Thing is, I can't tell from your post.

Open Program on your 'C' drive, My Computer (or whatever drive you files should be on and look. Don't do anything but look!).

Just read through this and tell me what, if anything, matched what might have happened.

i do have outlook.pst and achive.pst which i found on the C drive. I made extra copies of that right after the incident. And like i mentioned in the previous post, my setting in the Desktop Manager are to BB winning the conflicts.

Is there any more settings you need to know?
