WL Messenger lag
I have a problem with Windows Live Messenger where say if 20 people are aded to a conversation, messneger will sit there for like 40 seconds chuning the hard disk. I get this on all 3 of my PCs using the latest version. I have gone to friends houses and they don't get anything like me. My PC's are faster and better maintanted than my friends yet I get this extemely painful and annoying lag. Is anyone in the same position as me/have any solutions.

No ideas people? I must be the only person on the planet with this problem cos google draws a blank. Problem seems to be getting really bad now, even if just one person leaves a convo, it causes MSN to churn the disk and become completely unresponsive for over 10 seconds. This is really starting to piece me off.

I can only suggest, uninstalling MSN, Running a Full system clean of MSN Components, then downloading the WLM Installer and re-installing it from scratch...
Easiest way to clean up is to use CCleaner its free and should do the job nicely (make sure you download the slim version) Instructions:( if i wasnt clear :P ) 1) Download CCleaner Slim. (see DL links below)Direct Links: Windows Live Messenger Direct Download CCleaner Home Page CCleaner v2.11.636 - Slim (847KB) ( i say slim because it contains no toolbars ) |

Did that a few times over the past couple of weeks and each time it gets "better", but still unbearable. What I really don't understand is how all 3 of my systems do the same thing, while everyone else I've seen get maybe a 2 second delay, while I'm sitting there for 2 minutes, and when it finally gets it crap together, I have to scroll up so I can read the half of the conversation I've missed.
thanks |

No need to get CCleaner Slim - the toolbar can be opted out of during the regular install.

Thanks anyway. It seems to have gotten better with the reinstall and it isn't annoying me anymore.
But I think I may have found the problem. I have message logs enabled, and the other people that I comapred with don't. So I guess that messenger is writing to the logs when they are added, seems logical. |

Turns out it was the message logs, I'm leaving it off now.
