'Messpatch light' will also do what you want with the minimum of fuss
http://mess.be/ Normally I'd say try to leave the advert there - Messenger is a free service after all - but it's become so intrusive lately I don't blame you for wanting rid. Just rolling over with the mouse makes it balloon to 5x its normal size. To me that's just plain annoying.

It's a vicious circle...advertising shows up on a free service, people block it for being annoying. An even more annoying ad is displayed to get around the first block, and people block that ad for being annoying. And so it goes.

Below is an upload for "messpatch-g5-8513021018" its a .ini of the best settings i found when using messpatch!
(only use if you want the best from MSN) ***WARNING IT DOES REMOVE VITAL LINKS FOR PASSWORD RECOVERY BUT IT CAN BE REVERSED READ BELOW*** ***REMEMBER TO USE THE BACKUP OPTION WHEN YOU RUN THIS PATCH IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG*** I use it to stop crap clogging up the window(s) in MSN, but the best one to use is Apatch due to it having a GUI (Graphic User Interface) unlike Messpatch which is a load of tick boxes with a brief description... Downloads (Direct link to file): Mess Patch 8.5.1302.1018 (multi-lang) Apatch v1.40 RC2 (build 31) Apatch SS: http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u.../apatchgui.jpg Messpatch SS: http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u...messpatchI.jpg __________________ REMOVAL OF THE PATCH SETTINGS When you first run the patch it asked you to create a backup of the current MSN setup (hope to god you said yes :P) From there re-run the patching software you originally used and it will give you the option to; Messpatch - "Restore Previous Settings" Apatch - "Restore Settings" From that tick the boxes you want to restore from forgetting patch settings to enabling the Sharing Folders of MSN. It will restore your settings after that. Any issues PM me for advice or post back in for help! Regards, METAL13 W.Australia Last edited by glc; 08-28-2008 at 08:14 AM.
