installing problem
i keep getting a message that says ''the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation'' i contacted the software troubleshoot and they could not understand why it was not installing even though i am the system administrator. i deleted everything regarding this software in registry keys as well. where i have had problems in the past with certain applications and that was what worked.

For grins - might help if you mentioned the name of the software. Maybe someone else had the same problem.

1. Check under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\ and delete the relevent key.
2. Right click the installation file, choose Run As, choose Administrator. 3. Find the Microsoft cleanup tool, uninstall and reinstall Windows Installer. 4. What exact version and service pack level of Windows? |

What happens if you log into the actual "Administrator" account and try it?

If you ctrl/alt/del twice, you will get an old style login screen. Try logging in as Adminstrator. If it has a password, someone had to assign one when Windows was installed............
The bios has nothing to do with this. |

Control panel, User Accounts. Change the way users log on, uncheck the welcome screen box. Log off, you will then have an old type login screen.

If you get the message "Your Install disk is older than the installed version" You may have downloaded SP 1 or SP 2. I had this problem once. I went to Add / remove programs and deleted the service packs. After that it installed OK.
