I'm trying to install my printer software, HP Photosmart 2575, in a Vista Machine. The problem is that everytime I tried to install it, my PC reboot. From the CD as soon I click install or from the web after 14 minutes downloading(extract),it will re-start. Is this some kind of malware in my PC. I deleted all previous software from HP. Vista detected and print OK from PC, but no other function can't be acces. Thanks for your help.

Like Force I hope you meant "un-installed" not "deleted".
Have you installed the service pack for Vista ? As for the current drivers under Vista, did you get the ones you needed from here : http://newdriverdownloads.com/driver...FQVfFQodBCEiEA

Hi 15Y,
Take a deep breath. You're not answering our questions. Have you downloaded and installed Service Pack 1 for Vista ? You say you deleted the software but what we're asking is if you went into Add/Remove in Control Panel and correctly uninstalled it ? |

All of my updates are up to date(automatic setting/manually). Yes, removed fron "Add/Removed" from Control Panel . Deleted/Empty from "Recicle Bin", Icons and "Programs". Even if I try to install anything from Microsoft website, it will re-start. Not just from HP website or software CD. Thanks.

So it's not something about HP printer software with Vista, you have a general system problem.
We'll start with two things, first open Even Viewer and check for errors that were recorded at the times the computer re-started. Write down any you find. The second thing to do is this; to disable automatic restart in Vista : http://pcsupport.about.com/od/window...startvista.htm That means that you will be able to see, and write down, any error messages. Post back all the messages you get, unless they're all the same one, so that we can get some idea of what's going on. |

It still re-booting. 15016 HttoEvent : "Unable to initalize the security package Kerberos for server side authentication. The data field contains the error number". This is the one with the most repetition. Hope this is what you're asking for. Thanks.

Have you disabled automatic restart as per the link? If you did, it will still restart but will show a blue error screen with a code like 0x0000050 and then an explanation like "THREAD STUCK IN DEVICE DRIVER".

Your security software is stopping the install and we may be able to tell you how to get around that with a little experimentation. Provided Kerberos doesn't have major problems with Vista, now we know where to start. Now, is this a strictly home computer or one sharing/connected to work security ( You're on a military base? ) ? Are you willing, if you can job-wise, to uninstall Kerberos if necessary, but more important, has it been a problem for you before this ? |

Sorry for the delay, I got the flu. This is a home base computer with Vista as only OP. This is the first time that I experience something like this.I wish this PC was XP and not VistaMe. To liambl, the PC, it just start to shut down by itself. No blue screen or any error window. It just log off and re-boot. Thanks.

This PC is so sluggish, it drives me nuts! I tought I was making history by buying a new PC and not made by me. This PC came only with 512 or Ram. i bought more thinking it would make any differience in speed,no!

That is one of my major issue, is Vista the only OS in it! Normally, I use my PC for Gaming, watch videos(LiveLeak), Picture Editing and surf the internet. But I expected to work trouble free. Thanks again.
