ethernet controller not configured
hiya
my mother in laws pc was running really slow with too many processes etc so i rebooted with her recovery discs. after doing this there is a message popping up after windows loads. ethernet controller not configured. it asks to insert the disc with the drivers etc on so after doing this it cant find it. obviously the choice of going on the internet isnt an option as it wont connect now. any ideas as to how i do this? i have looked for "REALTEC RTL8101L" on the net and found that you can buy this driver but am not willing to pay for something that should be on the recovery disc. this is an emachine 420 and so went on the emachine site but the model isnt logged there. is there a site where i could download this for free or is it a case of i have to buy as the machine has just ran out of warranty? although i'm sure any engineer that she (my mother in law) has called out hasnt replaced any hardware i cant be positive . would this be an issue? the motherboard is micro atx IM845GV. i have the handbook for that which is where i got the info for LAN controller, is this the same thing or am i looking for something different? i'm at a loss please help jay |

thanks for that glc but it didnt work. had another look at the recovery discs and the one with the drivers on states a driver for RTL8139L even though the motherboard paperwork says RTL8101L and both are on that program.
i installed it but nowt has changed apart from it isnt asking for the drivers anymore. i still cant connect. what could be the problem? Last edited by wooosh; 10-19-2008 at 10:57 AM. |

Probably need to configure the network connections in Control Panel/Network Connections.
